KEY INGREDIENTS FOR A FROZEN STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

Strawberries, Fresh and Frozen: this cocktail recipe uses both fresh and frozen strawberries. The bulk of your strawberries are frozen, creating a delightfully cold beverage without the use of ice (which means your drink won’t get diluted as the ice melts, excellent!).

Lime Juice: the tartness of the lime plays off the sweetness of the strawberries...you don’t want to skip it!

Sugar: This strawberry daiquiri recipe calls for granulated sugar (a pretty typical item for most people). Just enough to add a touch more sweetness to your cocktail.

Rum: A white or light rum is the best choice for a strawberry daiquiri. However, if you only have a dark rum on hand, I’d say use it! Spiced rum is not ideal for this recipe as the spices tend to overpower the strawberry flavor.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR MAKING THE PERFECT FROZEN STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

Can I use all frozen strawberries (instead of a fresh / frozen combo) for this strawberry daiquiri recipe? Of course! If you’re like me and like to buy bulk-bags of frozen fruit, this is a great option.

Can I reduce the amount of sugar in this recipe? The amount of sugar you use is definitely based on preference. I enjoyed the ⅓ cup of sugar used in this recipe, but definitely think reducing it down to ¼ cup would have been enjoyable too. Play around with it until you find your perfect sweetness level.

Can I use simple syrup instead of the granulated sugar? Definitely! According to the powers of Google, a good substitution ratio is to use ¼ ounce of simple syrup for every 1 tsp of sugar in a recipe. This ratio would have you add ½ cup of simple syrup to this recipe in lieu of the ⅓ cup of granulated sugar. Personally, I would recommend starting with a smaller amount of simple syrup, blending, and giving it a little taste test. If you’d like a little more sweetness, you can always add more.

Can I make this into a virgin strawberry daiquiri instead? Yes, and this is a great option to include kiddos in the fun! There are a couple of ways to do this. You can simply leave out the rum (however, this creates more of an icee texture which isn’t quite as smooth). You can also replace the rum with lemon-lime soda, apple juice, or white grape juice! I would recommend starting with a 1-to-1 ratio with your substitute liquid (so 4oz of soda or juice), blending, and giving it a taste-test. You may want to add additional soda or juice to create your perfect non-alcoholic frozen strawberry daiquiri.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO MAKE A FROZEN STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

A good blender: all you need for this recipe is a good blender! We've gone through a few (what is it about blenders that they magically burn out after just passing the 1-year warranty mark?), but have had good luck with this basic blender.
