Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Lovely, fresh flavor. The variety of fruit and simple dressing in this salad has the best flavor! You taste the flavors of each of the fruits, and the combination of lime juice and honey make an easy dressing that just can’t be beat!
Quick and easy recipe. All you need to do is wash and chop a little fruit, measuring your dressing ingredients, mix, and enjoy!
The perfect way to enjoy plenty of fruit! If adding a little bit of honey and lime with this fruit combination gets you (or your kiddos) to devour a whole bunch of fruit, it’s a no-brainer to make, right? Like our 2-Ingredient Fruit Dip, this mango and berry salad has been the best way to get some of our little loved ones to eat their colors.
Ingredients Needed
Fresh Fruit. We’re using fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, and fresh mango for the most delicious fruit salad!
Lime. We’re using a fresh lime zest and lime juice in our dressing for this honey lime fruit salad recipe.
Honey. Honey bring lovely natural sweetness to our fruit salad, and the taste is a nice compliment to the lime and fruits used in our recipe.
Optional: Fresh Mint Leaves for Garnish. This is something my mom swears by, so if you’ve got a plethora of fresh mint and need a way to use it, try washing up and rough chopping a few leaves and adding it to your fruit salad.
See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
Recipe Variations & Substitutions
You can change up the combination of fruits used in this easy fruit salad recipe if desired. Using your favorite fruits is sure to turn this into your favorite fruit salad! For the best results, maintain the same ratio of adding 4-5 cups of fresh fruit.
- Good fruit salad fruits include: strawberries, blueberries, mangos, red grapes or green grapes (I recommend seedless grapes), ripe kiwis, fresh pineapple, and mandarin oranges.
- Fruits that don’t work as well in fruit salad include: raspberries (they get squished), bananas (also get squishy), frozen fruit (gets mushy and watery once thawed).
Try using a different citrus for your dressing. You can also use fresh-squeezed lemon juice or orange juice for your dressing if desired! If you’ve substituted in some tropical fruits to your recipe, you could also try using pineapple juice!
Step-By-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the fruit. Rinse and chop the strawberries, peel and chop the mango, and rinse the blueberries. Zest and juice the lime.
Step 2: Place the prepared fruit into a large bowl with the lime zest.
Step 3: Make the dressing. In a small bowl, mix together the fresh lime juice and honey.
Dressing Tip
Microwaving the honey and lime juice mixture for about 10 seconds helps the dressing mix together easier, and helps to prevent your fruit salad having globs of honey.
Step 4: Pour the prepared dressing over the fruit.
Step 5: Toss the fruit and dressing together until evenly coated.
Step 6: Refrigerate until serving, and enjoy!
Possible Dietary Restrictions?
This fruit salad with honey lime dressing recipe is already vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free as written.
- To make this into a vegan fruit salad recipe, the honey needs to be substituted with a different sweetener. You could try agave syrup. Please note: I have not done this myself and cannot comment on how the taste is affected with this substitution.
Storage
While fruit salad tastes best the day it’s made, it can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
Expert Tips
This fruit salad is best the day it is prepared. While this fruit salad recipe is best day-of, you can still eat leftovers the next day. Just note the fruit salad may not be quite as good the next day.
Making this for a party? Here are a few make ahead tips:
- Save time by cutting up the fruit the day before the party.
- You can also make the honey lime dressing a day ahead if desired.
- Wait to toss your fruit and dressing together until just before serving.

Sometimes another green salad just doesn’t do it..this is a great addition to any meal. I sometimes add chopped fresh mint leaves or those tiny candied ginger bits for another pop of flavor along with the honey and lime.
